EKG Ancillary ServicesServices

An electrocardiogram (EKG) is an electrical recording of the heart and is used in the investigation of heart disease. An EKG may be done when you are admitted to the hospital as part of a routine physical exam or when there are questions about the working of your heart. You will be asked to remove or loosen your clothing from the waist up, put on a hospital gown, and lie down on a bed. The technician will place a small electrode on each of your arms and legs and across six areas on your chest. You will be asked to lie still for the minute or two that it takes the machine to record your heart's rhythm. There is no discomfort or pain.
