Computerized Axial Tomography scans, also known as CAT or CT scans, can produce three-dimensional pictures of a cross section a body part. This test is able to detect some conditions that conventional x-rays cannot and can often replace certain diagnostic techniques that cause the patient discomfort and inconvenience.
When you have a CT scan, you want the clearest and most accurate images possible. That's why Sebastian River Medical Center has the LightSpeed CT imaging system from GE Medical Systems. With LightSpeed, our physicians receive the clear, detailed images they need to make accurate and confident diagnoses.
64-Slice CT Technology
In 2007, SRMC introduced the latest in CT technology with the state of the art 64-Slice VCT Lightspeed CT system by General Electric. This system is located in our Outpatient Diagnostic Center and is the only one of its kind in North Indian River County allowing us to bring the residents of Indian River and Brevard Counties the assurance of quality care. "It demonstrates the hospital's willingness to keep up with technology," said Dr. Peter Joyce, Medical Director of Radiology at SRMC. "That's so important, and it makes a big difference to the community."
